MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The next player is a name that many Badger fans have become familiar with throughout his recruiting process. That player is Franklin quarterback Myles Burkett.


Behind Graham Mertz, there will be plenty of quarterback competition for the Badgers. Chase Wolf is currently slated to back up Mertz. However, the talented Burkett has a good chance to compete in this quarterback room.

Player Summary:

Burkett is an intriguing quarterback in the Badgers' 2022 recruiting class. One aspect of his game that stands out is that he does a nice job getting rid of the ball quickly, especially under heavy pressure. His patience in the pocket was a crucial trait that helped him succeed in high school.

Burkett also has a nice build for a college quarterback and does well extending plays downfield with his athleticism.

Another aspect of his game is his accuracy. In 2021, Burkett had a 71.3 completion percentage while throwing for over 3,400 yards and 36 touchdowns.

He also knows what it's like to win. Last season, Burkett led his team to an undefeated 14-0 record and a high school Division 1 state championship. In the championship game, Burkett went 16/23 with 276 yards and three touchdowns.

Burkett is an intriguing player to watch for the Badgers' incoming freshman class. He has the tangibles and brings more competition to the quarterback room at Wisconsin.
