Gettysburg Address recited during patriotic celebration at Milwaukee's Alcott Park

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- “A new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

One of President Abraham Lincoln’s most famous speeches, the Gettysburg Address, was recited at Alcott Park in Milwaukee this 4th of July.

Civil war cannons were also fired after a patriotic parade.

Wisconsin aided the war efforts, sending more than 90,000 soldiers to serve.
