Gov. Evers, lawmakers and more celebrate lighting of holiday tree at Capitol

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers was at the Capitol in Madison on Friday, Dec. 1, to light the holiday tree.
Lawmakers, community leaders, and families were there to take in the sight of it all.
This year's theme: 175 years of Wisconsinites.
This year marks the 175th anniversary of Wisconsin becoming a state.
Students across Wisconsin made ornaments that represent what Wisconsin means to them and who.
Some people included on the tree: early miners that gained the nickname "badgers," visionaries like the Horlick brothers who invented malted milk in Racine County, native nations, the Green Bay Packers, teachers and parents can also be found on the 2023 holiday tree.
