Gov. Evers orders flags lowered for Waukesha parade tragedy anniversary

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers has ordered U.S. and Wisconsin state flags to be flown at half-staff on Thursday, Nov. 21 to mark the third anniversary of the 2021 Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy.

The order honors the six victims who were killed in the attack: Tamara Durand, Wilhelm Hospel, Jane Kulich, Leanna Owen, Virginia Sorenson and Jackson Sparks.

"Today, we also remember and recognize the strength and the spirit of the Waukesha community, their resilience, and their generosity and compassion in the wake of an unspeakable tragedy. Waukesha and Wisconsin remain 'Waukesha Strong,'" Evers said on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Flags will remain lowered from sunrise to sunset under Executive Order #244.
