Gov. Evers visits Head Start child care provider in Racine

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers visited a child care center in Racine Monday that relies on federal funding as a Head Start program.

Head Start is a federally funded program that aims to promote school readiness for infants, toddlers and preschoolers from low-income families.

The governor's office says last week, six of the 39 Head Start beneficiaries in Wisconsin, serving about 3,000 kids, could not access payments.

According to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, Wisconsin is estimated to receive more than $28 billion in appropriated federal investments over the 2023-25 budget.
