Greendale High School band prepares for 2026 Rose Parade

Greendale High School Band

GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It was a cold and sloppy day for marching band practice outside, but for the students at Greendale High School, there's a warm weather payoff ahead.

The band has been invited to march in the 2026 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

The group has been not only to the Rose Parade before, but also to Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

CBS 58 talked to two senior band members who are excited about the opportunity and grateful for their time in the music program.

"I just love how it just promotes creativity and you get to express yourself in so many ways and of course, you meet a ton of new friends. Like I've met my bestest friends through marching bands and all the music stuff," said Keira Block.

"If math isn't your thing or English isn't your thing you can come to band and everyone can find a home here," said Valerie Brockmann.

The band is looking forward not only to their performance but also to warmer weather in Pasadena.

There's also a free Rose Parade concert preview coming up Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. in the Greendale High School gymnasium.

The 2026 Rose Parade takes place Jan. 1, 2026 and this year's theme is "The Magic in Teamwork.”
