MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's an acre of land rich in topsoil and bountiful crops, and the location is a prime spot. Right across the street from one of Milwaukee's largest publicly funded homeless shelter, The Guest House. Hundreds of pounds of food are harvested here each growing season. Both the garden and shelter are located in the 53205 zip code, considered to be a food desert. In other words, there's not one grocery store in sight. Hundreds upon hundreds of volunteers work to make all this possible every year.
If you or your company or corporation are looking to help out, feel free to reach out to Guest House directly. Or if you're in need of assistance, whether it be for food or shelter, you can contact the shelter as well.
