Hamilton fans excited for opening night in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The curtain goes up in Milwaukee for Broadway’s biggest show.
Hamilton the musical started a 32-show run Tuesday, Oct. 22.
“It is a big show,” said Sandra Tadysak on her way into the Marcus Center.
“My son got us hooked on the musical soundtrack, so once we heard the soundtrack and read the history about who wrote the play, we said we’ve got to do it,” said Tadysak.
“Very excited, I love Hamilton,” said Paige Hueschen on her way into opening night.
Hamilton is based on a biography of Alexander Hamilton, and quickly became one of the most successful Broadway shows in recent memory.
Some people went to great lengths to score opening night ticket.
“I wanted to see Hamilton too, so got the season ticket package and you can pay for it over a six month period,” said Jamee Stefanski.
“We’re excited for opening night,” said David Armstrong, General Manager at Rumpus Room across the street from the theater.
The restaurant is getting in the Hamilton spirit, offering a special themed meal .
“We thought with Hamilton coming into town, this could be a once-in-a-lifetime thing, let’s really do something that has a really nice theme to it,” said Armstrong.
Their private room is decked out to look colonial, and they serve colonial-style food from old Williamsburg recipes, with drinks like Sam Adams beer.
They wanted people to get the colonial experience before heading to the theater.
“It’s just going to add an element to all the people going to the show, it’s just an additional experience,” said Armstrong.
