A few familiar faces helped make their new school feel a little bit more like home.

“It was immaculate. It was so fun. We had all types of different activities to do. It was just crazy and chaotic and I loved it,” said Giovanni, a Lincoln Avenue student.

For these kids, school doesn’t look the way it used to.

“Our school caught on fire,” said Giovanni.

Giovanni had spent years at Lincoln Avenue, so starting over somewhere else has taken some getting used to.

“I just have to get the experience of being at the new school because I’ve been at that school for so long,” said Giovanni.

Pulaski High School opened its doors, and on Wednesday, the Milwaukee Bucks opened their arms.

“People care for them. People are here for them, and you know, it’s a safe environment,” said Kel’el Ware, with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Ware, Kasparas Jakučionis, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. handed out Bucks hats, supplies, and even served lunch.

“Salads, tomatoes, all the healthy stuff,” said Jakučionis.

Laughter, food, and awe filled the cafeteria.

“This is true character right here. These kids showing up and having joy,” said Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Taylor Jenkins.

The fire was far from their minds.

“I think my favorite part is just seeing all their faces when they start to smile when they see us. They always ask the question, 'do you really play for the Bucks?' And it’s like yeah, of course, man,” said Jaquez Jr.

Giovanni knows he’s still going to miss Lincoln Avenue, but on Wednesday, he got to make new memories at Pulaski.

“It means so much to me,” said Giovanni. “I feel very great.”
