HAWS of Waukesha County launches adoption campaign for big dogs

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County issued a Monday, july 22 press release to announce a new campaign to offer an incentive for more people to adopt larger dogs.

The 50-50-50 campaign offers a 50% discount on adoption fees for the next 50 dogs weighing 50 lbs. or more.

HAWS noted in the release that larger dogs make up the majority of long-term residents, adding that the trend is not limited to HAWS, but that it is a trend taking place nationwide.

Executive Director Maggie Tate-Techtmann stated that the goal is to place pets in loving homes quickly. "We’re here for pets every step of their journey, but we know that the shelter is not the ideal home for any pet."

The 50-50-50 drive includes additional support for new owners through HAWS' Foster to Adopt program along with other post-adoption services.

Full details, including information about how to adopt, can be found by visiting HAWSPets.org.
