A boost in temperatures despite the lack of sunshine
WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Tuesday, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County- or HAWS- welcomed in a group of new residents.
The pets landed at the Waukesha County Airport this morning thanks to Greater Goods Charities.
They transport shelter pets to areas where there's a greater need for adoptable pets.
This furry group came in from southern shelters facing overcrowding.
Thanks to HAWS, Greater Good Charities and Tito's vodka sponsoring the care of the new animals at HAWS, all of these pets may soon find their forever homes.
"Every single time the plane lands, every single time the cargo door opens, you get that rush," said Jennifer Smieja, HAWS communications and media specialist. "It never gets old. It's always exciting to know we're helping these animals and giving them a new lease on life."
About three dozen animals were on today's flight.
Twenty-four dogs are now at HAWS, with a handful of cats going to their partner shelters.
They plan to have all the pets ready for adoption within the coming days.
