Heavy rain and storms continue Friday morning before a mostly dry Labor Day weekend

It has been a loud last 24 hours for parts of southeast Wisconsin. Thursday morning saw some heavy rain and severe thunderstorm warnings accompanied by 1-3" of rain. Then we saw another round of severe storms between 10:30 p.m. Thursday night and 3:30 a.m. Friday morning. Another 1-3" of rain fell in some locations leading to another flash flood warning to be issued for Sheboygan County until 9 a.m. Friday. 

Rain totals are pushing 4" in some locations and most communities north of I-94 have seen over 1" of rain over the last 24 hours. The heavy rain has led to brief flood advisories in many areas where low lying areas may briefly flood and ponding is occurring on some urban streets. Areas south of I-94 have still seen at least some rain but not as much with totals between 0.25-0.75". 

Even though the severe storm threat ended in the early morning hours of Friday, the storms have continued. Especially in northern counties where another round of storms with heavy rain and frequent lightning are continuing. The chance for rain will likely linger through at least the mid to late morning hours.

Most of Friday afternoon looks dry, but some isolated showers or storms may be possible Friday evening. There's not much of a severe risk with any additional storms we see Friday evening. Might want to have the umbrella or rain jacket handy for any outdoor activities Friday evening including Friday Night Football. 

The wind is expected to shift to the southwest Friday afternoon which could push temperatures into the upper 80s in some locations, especially if it stays dry and we see some sunshine. Then temperatures will drop for the rest of the weekend into the 70s. The middle of next week does look a bit warmer with 80s possible next Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Dew points will stay high on Friday and Saturday. Tropical level humidity is expected with dew points reaching the middle 70s at times. The high humidity on Friday could push feels like temps into the 90s. Even though Saturday is cooler, it's still going to be very humid with dew points staying in the 70s in the tropical category. The humidity level will finally drop on Sunday but it's still going to be muggy with dew points in the upper 60s. 

After the storms on Friday, the Labor Day weekend is looking pretty dry. We may see a lingering shower early Saturday morning but then sunshine returns and the weekend stays away from the rain. Sunshine should return by Saturday afternoon and stays with us through Labor Day itself with no rain chance.
