MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On Tuesday, Sept. 6, CBS 58 got a sneak peek at the new Milwaukee Public Library Martin Luther King Branch, which opens to the public Saturday, Sept. 6.

The renovated branch features green infrastructure, ultra-modern touches including the technology to create a pop-up recording studio, private study areas and a large community room.

There's something for everybody and that's important to the people in charge.

"So we can have different smaller organizations that can use different meeting spaces, we can have teens that can come and have a safe space in the afternoon," said Tiffany Thornton, Milwaukee Public Library Martin Luther King Branch manager. "I think there's a lot of different ways that the community can use it, but I think primarily having all of the space, having the access to these spaces and resources is what I would say is kind of the primary takeaway."

Manager Tiffany Thornton says this was her library branch when she was growing up and she's happy that it's been updated for the Harambee community.

The grand opening celebration starts at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at MLK Drive and Locust.
