MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- During these mask-wearing days, the name of the current exhibit happening at Latino Arts on Milwaukee’s south side fits the tone and tenor of the times.

It’s called “Hidden Faces” by artist and activist Angelica Contreras. But upon further discovery, you might say what’s on display really pops in color and content. The 16 pieces use a combination of acrylics, collage, and oil paint to express both individuality and multi-cultural all at the same time. Managing Artistic Director of Latino Arts, Inc., Jacobo Lovo, says "the artwork pops out of the wall.  He goes on to say it's a "layered look of techniques and meaning."

There will be a guided gallery walk of “Hidden Faces”on January 29th. Because of Covid safety precautions, only 10 people are allowed to see the exhibit at once.  So you’re asked to pre register ahead of time.  Click here to do so.

Also, the artistic center is gearing up for the annual guitar competition and contest.  Because of Covid, it's in a virtual form this year.  If you're interested in participating, click here.

Latino Arts, Inc. is located at 1028 S. 9th Street on Milwaukee's south side.
