MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a massive apartment fire on the city's south side as suspicious.

The fire broke out Monday morning, Sept. 11 just after 3 a.m. near 21st and Mitchell.

"It was terrifying," said Jasmine Pantoja.

Jasmine Pantoja was inside the apartment with her boyfriend when the fire took over her unit.

"It got really bad, it got really smoky and red, he's like there's a fire, let's go," said Pantoja.

The flames quickly moved from the apartment to nearby cars.

The building is now considered a total loss, thankfully no one was hurt.

The 21st and Mitchell fire was one of three fires Monday morning, all on the city's south side.

CBS 58 asked MPD if the three fires were connected and they said they're under investigation -- an uneasy answer for mothers like Pantoja.

"To know that there was so much going on like this, I would never have put my kids in that situation," Pantoja said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7360 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or P3 Tips.
