MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For 13 hours on Friday, cars loaded with bags of healthy food streamed into the Miller Park parking lot. The 9th annual Drive Thru Food Drive for Hunger Task Force with CBS 58 and the Brewers Community Foundation was once again a success.

"Whenever you help somebody else it makes you feel really good, and that hopeful feeling that you create for another person can be contagious," said Executive director of the Hunger Task Force Sherrie Tussler.

In this case, the contagion is hope for the growing number of people showing up a food pantries, some of whom may have been donors here in years past, but have fallen on hard times during the pandemic.

"Because of unemployment related to the pandemic, so many more families are showing up in larger and larger families as people lose their housing and start co-housing together.  And so those families really need our help.  They could be your neighbor, now's the time to do it," Tussler said.

It's not too late to give. You can donate everything from peanut butter to pineapple online at the Hunger Task Force website.

"What we want people to know is that there's a virtual food drive here at Hunger Task Force.  It's a CBS 58, Brewers Community Foundation food drive. You can donate a turkey, you can donate a whole meal, or you can donate anyone of the items that makes a meal online.  Really simple," said Tussler.
