MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Hunger Task Force turkey mascot took to the streets of downtown Milwaukee Friday, Nov. 1, to kick off the 9th annual Turkey Ticker Challenge.
Several volunteers also joined the trek through a few of Milwaukee's hot spots. It was all in an effort to spread the word that all turkey donations made in the month of November will be matched.
That means all $15 turkey donations ensure that two turkeys will go to Milwaukee families in need before Thanksgiving.
"The Thanksgiving holidays are right around the corner, and one of Hunger Task Force's commitments to our community is to provide that festive holiday meal," said Hunger Task Force Director of Development Jonathan Hansen. "Our friends at Rexnord step up this time of year to make sure that we're going to be able to provide over 2,000 turkeys to local families this holiday season."
As turkeys are donated, the turkey ticker count will be updated daily on Hunger Task Force's website.
Turkey donations can be made online or dropped off frozen to the Hunger Task Force.
