"I don't want to do this:" 15-year-old charged with fatal shooting near 12th and Cleveland

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 15-year-old has been arrested following a fatal shooting that happened near 12th and Cleveland on August 25.

The teen is charged with first degree reckless homicide and attempted robbery.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer spotted a silver vehicle in the creek under the bridge on S. 13th Street between Harrison and Cleveland.

The officer noticed a woman seated on the cement nearby, holding a man in her arms. Both were covered in blood. Despite lifesaving measures, the man died at the scene. His cause of death was ruled homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers spoke with the woman who said that she was with the victim all day. The woman told police that she was asked by a man if she could drive him around to sell drugs. Following several transactions, they dropped the man back off at his house. He then asked if they could pick him up again.

The woman and the victim then picked up the man again. That time, he was with another person, later identified as the 15-year-old defendant.

After a number of stops, the man got out of the car and went into his girlfriend's house.

The three others then continued to drive when the 15-year-old defendant asked them to take him to his mother's house. He then changed the location to a house near 13th and Cleveland where the group made contact with an unknown individual who seemed to know the defendant.

The defendant then told the victim to turn down an alleyway, which the victim did.

According to the criminal complaint, they stopped at a house in the alley and the defendant then got out of the vehicle with a gun in his hand. He allegedly pointed the gun at the male victim and said "I don't want to do this bro, get out of the car."

The woman in the car ducked as the victim attempted to drive away.

He was shot in the car before he drove into a nearby ditch.

The 15-year-old defendant made his initial appearance on Thursday.
