Investigation underway following collision involving Metra train and pedestrian in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha police are investigating an accident involving a southbound Metra train and a pedestrian. 

Officials say it happened around 12:17 p.m. near the 6800 block of the Union Pacific North Line. 

Police say train services will be temporarily affected while an investigation is underway. Inbound and outbound trains outbound trains will only operate between Chicago OTC and Waukegan. Trains will not stop at Kenosha, Winthrop Harbor, and Zion until further notice, according to police. 

About 20 passengers were on board the train at the time of the incident. All passengers were transported to the Kenosha Metra Station to safely exit the train.

Union Pacific released the following statement regarding the incident: 

"We are saddened by the loss of a Union Pacific family member in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and extend our deepest sympathies to his family and the employees who worked alongside him. The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. CT near 13th Avenue and 69th Street in Kenosha. Our emergency response team is on-site investigating the incident. No one else was hurt."

The Union Pacific employee was identified as 34-year-old Austin Rasby from Burlington.
