MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After years of not being able to celebrate a Milwaukee Brewers game because of the pandemic, fans are back full throttle.
Kelly's Bleachers opened its doors to the excited public ahead of the home opener Thursday, April 14, giving goodies away including shirts that said "Opening Day 2022."
"It feels great. It feels almost back to normal," said Anthony Luchini, one of the owners of Kelly's Bleachers.
Anthony Luchini said the pandemic was rough but they're starting off strong and welcoming all types of fans.
"I'm really happy about the fact that we have business coming in and kind of helping with the neighborhood businesses and getting them back to where they were before," said Mykel Thompson, who works at Kelly's Bleachers.
Support for the Brew Crew could be felt and certainly seen.
"I'm a huge baseball fan and to me Opening Day is like Christmas," said Santa Dougie, Brewers fan.
Santa Dougie, a die-hard Brewers fan, drove two hours just to see the game and has been doing so since the 70s.
Fans say the combination of it being Milwaukee Day and Opening Day adds to all the fun.
"It's almost like a holiday. It's like an event that’s citywide, everybody is just having a great time and good people, we're out here having fun," said Sara D., Brewers fan.
Fans say they're hopeful this season is the one where it take them all the way to the World Series.
