MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Another addition is coming to the Marquette University campus.
University President Michale Lovell led the shovel squad as they broke ground for a new athletic and human performance research center.
As the title suggests, it's a place where scientists and students will study athletes, how they perform, and how exercise affects overall health.
It will also house locker rooms for the men's and women's lacrosse teams.
"We are very excited for this new facility and our space in it. Our home base, to grow as a team and accelerate our development. It will be a game changer," said Marquette lacrosse player Grace Gabriel.
The Athletic and Human Performance Research Center will stand at 12th and Wells across from the Al McGuire Center. It is expected to open in Spring 2019.
