Jack White's surprise Cactus Club concert raises more than $16,000 for venue's accessibility initiative
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's Cactus Club was able to raise thousands of dollars to make their venue more accessible all thanks to musician Jack White.
The rock star played a surprise show at Cactus Club Friday, Oct. 25, and raised over $16,000 to go toward Cactus Club's accessibility initiative -- a goal to make the 140-year-old building ADA compliant.
The venue is fundraising in two phases. The first phase is adding a ramp to the front door, expanding the club to the north, adding accessible bathrooms, and more. Learn more about the accessibility initiative here.
Cactus Club shared the exciting news on social media Friday, Oct. 31.
"Thank you all so much for your support! We really believe that through collective organizing another world is possible," the post reads in part.
White has been making surprise performances and donations throughout Wisconsin. After playing a surprise gig at Madison's High Noon Saloon Thursday, Oct. 24, he and his band headed to Milwaukee's Vanguard and crashed their anniversary celebration with an unannounced show.
After the Cactus Club Friday, White performed at The Rave for another sold out crowd.
Pretty cool.
