Janesville parents charged after child drowns in bathtub

JANESVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) - Two Janesville parents have been charged following the drowning death of a child earlier this month.

According to the Rock County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded June 13 to a report of a child who was not breathing after possibly drowning in a bathtub.

Deputies began lifesaving efforts before emergency medical personnel arrived and took over. The child was transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, authorities developed probable cause to arrest the child's parents.

Twenty-seven-year-old Rebecca A. Ambrose was arrested and charged with:

  • Child neglect causing death
  • Two counts of child neglect of a child under 6 years old

Twenty-six-year-old Jason H. Christianson was arrested and charged with:

  • Two counts of child neglect of a child under 6 years old

Both Ambrose and Christianson were taken into custody on Sunday, June 28, and are scheduled to make their initial court appearances Monday, June 29.
