BARRON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) – It was a very brief court appearance, but for the first time, the family of Jayme Closs came face to face with Jake Patterson.
Patterson was almost nonchalant as he walked in. He looked at his dad and siblings before the sheriff turned him around and sat him down.
About 20 or so members of the Closs family were in the courtroom. They were calm. Some glared at Patterson as he sat there, others seemed to avoid looking his way.
The hearing only lasted a few minutes as Patterson waived his preliminary hearing.
As he was escorted out, Patterson told his family he loves them. His sister was crying and said, "love you too."
He did not enter pleas today. He’ll be back in court for his arraignment on March 27.
