WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Silver linings during dark times are crucial for healing.

"Jerseys for Jackson" was exactly that for the Sparks family after their little boy's life was taken in the Waukesha Christmas parade attack last year.

"Jerseys for Jackson, that all started with Sheri's idea for kids to come to the funeral and wear jerseys to honor Jackson, something relatable," said the Sparks family. "Something to honor Jackson that kids understand...I'm still blown away by how much that took off. It's just crazy."

It went viral! People all over the country, including several Brewers players, put on a jersey and posted a picture with the hashtag #Jerseys4Jackson.

Last year, it was on Dec. 3, and this year it is, too.

Bus so many schools, businesses and organizations want to take part, they're going to start it early, on Friday, Dec. 2.

"We just want people to share their jerseys, use that hashtag and just have some fun. Everyone can take part. That's the beauty of the campaign, it doesn't matter who you are, where you are, what jersey you wear, you can take part in something and honor Jackson and bring awareness."

Friday on the CBS 58 News we'll talk with the Sparks family about this weekend's Waukesha Christmas parade, the first since the attack.
