MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Coronavirus outbreak is having an impact on a Wisconsin tradition - the Friday Fish Fry.

All restaurants are now take out or delivery only. While some have stayed open, others are choosing when to be open.

Kegel's Inn says it's open just on Fridays. The Milwaukee dining staple has now added a new curbside pick-up window to better serve customers while practicing social distancing.

The restaurant's owner, Julian Kegel says they were blown away by how many people came to last Friday's Fish Fry. He says they had more than 350 orders last week so this week, they've doubled the amount of fish they have available.

"I follow facebook feeds on restaurants religiously and everybody just can’t thank our customers enough for keeping us alive," Kegel said.  "Kegel’s Inn is very fragile in terms of it being 95 years old. Five generations of Kegels owning [it] and we’ve been through lots of wars and prohibition and we’ve survived a lot. So we’re really battening the hatches to make sure that this place survives and it’s around for Milwaukee residents and [the] community for another 95 years."

Customers can either pre-order online or order at the office window drive-up at the restaurant.
