Kemps, Pick 'N Save donate 250,000 milk cartons to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of thousands of milk cartons are being donated to a local food bank. The donation comes at a time when food banks across the nation are dealing with shortages because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, April 22, 250,000 milk cartons were dropped off and donated to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

Kemps partnered with Pick 'N Save to help stock the shelves of food pantries in the area. Kemps donated shelf-stable milk meaning it has a shelf life of up to 12 months instead of the typical shelf-life of 21 days.

Leaders with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin said the donation comes in a time of need.

“Think about how hard it is for a grocery store like Pick 'N Save to be able to keep their shelves filled with the kind of healthy food that all of us are looking to buy," Scott Marshall with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin said. "Imagine at a food bank how hard it is for us to source healthy food like the milk that Kemps is producing and for this to be donated, 36,000 containers worth, it makes a really big difference.”

The cartons will be distributed across the eastern half of the state.
