Kenosha County officials: Man suspected of OWI severely injured in crash with school bus

KENOSHA (CBS 58) -- A Pell Lake man suspected of OWI, his third offense, was involved in a serious crash with a school bus in Kenosha County on Tuesday, May 31.

The crash happened on Wilmot Road (County Highway W) just before noon.

Initial reports indicate a Ford Focus traveling westbound on County Highway C crossed the center line and struck a school bus that was traveling eastbound head-on.

Officials say the bus driver and four children did not sustain any injuries.

The driver of the Ford Focus, identified as a 30-year-old man from Pell Lake, sustained severe injuries and was flown to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. He remains in critical condition.

Officials say substance abuse is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The driver was cited for his third OWI offense, operating left of center, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
