KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A teacher in the Kenosha Unified School District received a special surprise on Wednesday, April 16.

Rachel Hanspal, at Curtis Strange Elementary School, was awarded new supplies for her classroom.

The initiative was put on by PuroClean of Burlington and Alpine Insurance Agency

The "Adopt a Classroom" campaign asked the community to nominate teachers who go above and beyond for their students.

Even after earning the prize, Hanspal did not forget who made it all possible.

"I have the best kids in the school, no matter what school I am at, I will always tell you that my kids are the best. Their smiles, their aha moments, where something clicks and they are like. 'Oh, I get it now.' It's just why we do what we do," said Hanspal. "We are really focused on grit here, and they really have a lot of grit every day. It's not always easy but they come in, they do their work, they smile, we have fun and that's all you can really ask for."

An assembly took place Wednesday morning, where Hanspal was gifted $1,000 worth of classroom supplies from her Amazon wish list which included books, colored markers, pencils, crayons, and more.
