Lakefront Brewery collaborating with Milwaukee Diaper Mission to combat period poverty
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Ending period poverty, a challenge faced by many who struggle to afford essential menstrual products, is a continuing concern in the Milwaukee area.
Lakefront Brewery is partnering with Milwaukee Diaper Mission to host a period drive aimed at ending period poverty in Milwaukee.
For each individual disposable tampon, pad or liner donated, participants will receive 25 cents of gift card credit to spend at Lakefront's Beer Hall.
The event stems from a statistic mentioned in a press release about the event which states that two in five people have struggled to buy period products in the past year due to insufficient income.
Lakefront Brewery's partnership aims to support those in need by collecting essential period supplies.
Those able to help are asked to stop by Lakefront Brewery on Sunday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with any unopened period supplies they wish to donate. The initiative falls under Lakefront's Ripple Effect give back program, launched in 2023 to help the local community.
