MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 5,000 people are expected to march tomorrow morning, July 15, through downtown Milwaukee, just one block from where the RNC will be held at the Fiserv Forum.
Organizers with the Coalition to March on the RNC say more than 120 groups joined together ahead of the rally. The coalition, along with the City of Milwaukee, and MPD, agreed on a route on Friday.
Leaders tell CBS 58 the shooting at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, has no impact on their march, and while they are fully prepared for the worst, they are hoping for the best.
"Something like this is like living and breathing for us, right, this isn’t new for us. We’ve been organizers for many years, we know exactly how to deescalate and we’re feeling very confident where we’re coming into this," said Omar Flores, co-chair with the Coalition to March on the RNC.
Monday's march is the only one the group has planned during the RNC. They are expected to march in August during the DNC in Chicago.
