MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Spurred by the financial scandal that rocked Milwaukee Public Schools, Wisconsin lawmakers are ordering an audit on the Department of Public Instruction on Thursday, Aug. 29.

The audit, ordered by the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, will focus on DPI's overview of school districts' finances.

It will look into the process the department uses to review financial information and audit results sent by the districts.

The community voted 5-4 along party lines, with Republicans in the majority.
