OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two local athletes were sent off to the Paralympics with a drive-by parade Sunday, Feb. 22!
Laura Dwyer of Oconomowoc and Steve Emt of Deforest will represent Team USA in mixed doubles wheelchair curling.
Dwyer and Emt won the 2025 National Championship and placed ninth in the world Championship, qualifying for the 2026 Paralympics!
Dwyer hopes her story can inspire others to follow their dreams.
"In the beginning it was a just a dream and I just love that other people can see my story," said Laura Dwyer. "And it can impact them and they think that they too can find a dream that they have and go and get it."
Paralympic wheelchair curling begins next Wednesday, March 4, with 'Round Robin Sessions.'
The mixed doubles medal games are on March 10, making its debut in the games!
Best of luck to Dwyer and Emt!
