MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Judy Cohen of Lakeside Educational Services, LLC joined us on Wednesday, Feb. 5 to talk about key concerns parents have about education, covering topics related to testing, learning development and academic choices.
She spoke about the function of MAP testing, explaining its adaptive nature and how it measures student progress rather than intelligence. She also responded to concerns about letter and number reversals in young students, the importance of correcting them and best practices for early intervention.
Cohen addressed whether high school freshmen should take Advanced Placement courses, noting the workload and academic expectations. She also discussed hand dominance in young children, how it typically develops and when intervention may be necessary.
