WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A local mom of three is following her dreams of starting a business to support families. Abi Gilman opened Little Village Play Cafe in Wauwatosa, a place equally as enjoyable for kids as it is for parents.

Adults can sip on a hot coffee while their kids play with toys, climbing gyms, games and more.

"We tried going to coffee shops or local breweries or something and inevitably my kids just end up doing what kids do and kind of being silly or not really complying with the social norms," said Gilman.

That's what inspired Gilman to open Little Village. When designing the cafe, Gilman wanted a place where you don't feel like you're at a playground, but your kids do.

"I just wanted a space where my kid could go and play, and where I could also spend time with a parent or another friend." said Gilman.

She turned a Wauwatosa gym into an indoor play space and cafe. The concept is a little different from other indoor play spaces for kids.

"Our vibe is a little more of a coffee shop first, with a play space attached," said Gilman. "You can come and go. You don't need to make any reservations ahead of time."

There is also a retail space, where you can shop the toys your kids like. It was important for Gilman to also offer local, female options when it came to food, drinks and other items.
