Madison community comes together to rally around victims of school shooting
MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A memorial has formed outside of Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, the site of a school shooting that left three people, including the shooter, dead.
Tuesday morning, local school workers, from monitors to bus drivers, stopped by to say a prayer and drop off more flowers and candles.
Monday night, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes thanked community businesses for stepping up in the wake of tragedy.
Two of those businesses, Twisted Grounds Coffee and Greenbush Bakery, provided coffee and donuts to first responders, students and faculty.
"We love being in this area, so to see anybody negatively affect it in this way ... It's heartbreaking," said Abby Padlock, the owner of Twisted Grounds Coffee Shop.
Taylor Carlson, the owner of Greenbush Bakery, says the news of what happened shook him hard because he has many teachers in his family.
"We dropped off a bunch of donuts to the cop shop on Cottage Grove Rd. to use however," said Carlson. "Whether it was for the students, families, all of the medical, police ... Whoever needed something to make their day a little bit better."
Carlson and Padlock say they expect to see much more community support in the coming days.
