GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The man at the center of a public safety scandal in Greenfield pleaded guilty to a murder charge Thursday, Dec. 11, but with a specific condition - that when he's back in court they find him not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
Amando Lang is accused of stabbing a Madison man to death back in 2019.
He was previously found not competent to stand trial.
His case was brought back to court after prosecutors learned he had been released to a low security facility without proper notice.
But he was once again found incompetent.
Now, he faces either life in prison or a lifetime commitment to a mental health facility.
