Man charged, accused of dragging Milwaukee police officer with car during traffic stop

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 33-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he allegedly dragged a police officer down the road in a vehicle during a traffic stop. 

The incident happened Monday, June 24, when police said they observed "suspect illegal drugs" in a car near 48th and Capitol Dr.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was ordered to get out of the vehicle but police said he instead attempted to speed away.

One officer was able to get inside of the car, but another officer, a 30-year-old man, was dragged and fell off, sustaining minor injuries.

Pictures provided within the criminal complaint show the officer hanging onto the steering wheel as the suspect drives down the road.

Authorities say the chase lasted about a half mile until the driver came to a stop near 55th and Capitol. 

The driver was arrested and taken into custody. He was identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Tucker.

A search of Tucker's vehicle uncovered approximately 483 grams of marijuana believed to be consistent with street level sales. 

Tucker is now facing the following charges: 

  • First degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon (two counts) 
  • First degree recklessly endangering safety (two counts) 
  • Second degree recklessly endangering safety (two counts) 
  • Vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in bodily harm
  • Vehicle operator flee/elude officer causing damage to property
  • Possession with intent to deliver controlled substance (THC) 
  • Bail jumping (two counts) 
  • Resisting an officer 

Tucker's cash bond was set at $100,000. He's due in court for a preliminary hearing July 9.
