CBS 58

MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The man charged in the death of 3-year-old Elijah Vue has filed a lawsuit against Manitowoc County Jail.

Jesse Vang handwrote the complaint from jail, alleging civil rights violations.

Vang faces several charges, including physical abuse of a child causing death, chronic neglect of a child, and hiding a corpse.

He was reportedly watching Elijah Vue before the child disappeared from Twin Rivers in February of last year.

The 3-year-old's remains were later found in September.

In the lawsuit, Vang claims jail staff has been discriminating against and targeting him.

Jail staff responded in the reports, saying Vang has broken jail rules and his grievances are unfounded.

Vang was the boyfriend of Elijah Vue's mother, Katrina Baur, who also faces charges in the case.

His next court date is set for Jan. 8.
