Former West Allis day care worker charged, accused of sexual exploitation and child pornography
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police are investigating sexual exploitation at a West Allis day care.
According to a criminal complaint, a man, 25-year-old Jonathan Burkee, took explicit photos of a child in his care at Saint Paul's Lutheran care.
According to the child's mother, Burkee also baby-sat children at his home. The complaint says Burkee is the son of the school principal.
Police also say they found child porn on Burkee's phone. He is being charged with six counts of child pornography.
He is behind bars tonight, on a $5,000 bond.
St. Paul Lutheran released a statement regarding the incident: "We are aware of the recent arrest and charges filed against Jonathan Burkee. Jonathan Burkee was a non-teaching part-time sta member of St. Paul’s Lutheran. As of November 9 th, 2024, Jonathan Burkee is no longer employed by St. Paul’s Lutheran. We have been and will continue to cooperate with the West Allis Police Department with their ongoing investigation. Please understand that our primary focus at this time is providing our families and students with guidance and support as we navigate this difficult time. Please honor our request and provide our Church, School and families with the privacy we need to work and focus on healing together."
