NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A man trapped in industrial machinery near 16th and Ryerson was freed after an hourlong, multi-agency rescue effort on Friday, Aug. 14, according to the New Berlin Fire Department.

Crews were dispatched at around 7:45 a.m. and arrived six minutes later to find what officials described as a complex entrapment requiring specialized rescue resources.

Two physicians from Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin responded to provide medical care during the extrication, and the City of Waukesha Fire Department's special services team was called in for specialized extrication equipment. WFD's Med 51 also responded as it was one of the closest Milwaukee County paramedic units with blood administration capabilities.

Responders and maintenance staff worked together to carefully disassemble the machinery while treating the man throughout the process, according to the fire department. He was freed around 9:21 a.m. and taken to a hospital in stable but serious condition.
