Man sentenced to 8 years in prison for crash that killed 18-year-old woman in West Allis

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 20-year-old man will spend eight years in prison for a crash that killed an 18-year-old woman in West Allis. 

The crash happened April 23, 2023 near 60th and Burnham. 

Officials say Jason Zamora was driving when he ran a red light and struck a jeep and two pedestrians. His passenger, 18-year-old Maryxa Valle Zepeda, was killed in the crash. 

Back in May, Zamora pleaded not guilty to second degree reckless homicide in connection to the crash. 

At sentencing on Friday, Dec. 1, Zamora changed his plea to guilty. 

Zamora was sentenced to eight years in prison with six years of extended supervision.
