Man sentenced to three years for beating of Beaver Dam police officer

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (CBS 58) -- 27-year-old Trevell Cowan was sentenced to the maximum in Dodge County Court Thursday for a November, 2017 incident where he battered a Beaver Dam police officer.

The Judge sentenced Cowan to three years in prison and three years extended supervision.

Cowan was already on extended supervision in the 2017 incident for two armed robberies that occurred back in 2008.

In 2017 Cowan was stopped for numerous traffic violations when he got out of his car and punched the officer in the face causing his nose to bleed. Cowan was arrested after he was subdued with an electronic control device.

At the time Cowan told authorities he wanted to get away from the officer.
