Dodge County Sheriff's Office: 2 serious motorcycle crashes in 1 day
DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is investigating two serious motorcycle crashes on Saturday, July 6.
The first one happened near Highway GI and Kohn, in the township of Lowell, around 3 p.m.
Authorities say a single vehicle motorcycle crash was reported at that location. The motorcycle was traveling westbound when it failed to negotiate a curve and crashed.
The operator, a 45-year-old man, was ejected from the motorcycle. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet.
The man was flown from the scene with a serious head injury.
The sheriff's office says prior to being flown from the scene; the operator was placed under arrest for a misdemeanor OWI offense.
The second motorcycle crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near Red Road and Jersey, in the township of Trenton.
According to the sheriff's office, the initial investigation showed the involved motorcycle was traveling in a group of four motorcycles, when the speed of the motorcycle was too high to negotiate a curve, prior to an intersection. The operator, a 19-year-old man, locked up the breaks and lost control in the curve. Authorities say he was ejected from the motorcycle but was wearing a helmet.
The 19-year-old sustained serious injuries, and was taken by an ambulance to a hospital, and was then flown out to a trauma center.
