MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For the second time in program history, the Marquette volleyball team is in the Sweet 16.
The Golden Eagles left for Austin, Texas on Tuesday, Dec. 6 to prepare to face the top overall seed in the NCAA tournament, the Texas Longhorns.
Marquette (29-3) is having one of its best seasons in program history and will look to keep it going against the Longhorns. This will be the first time the two programs have ever faced each other. Texas is 24-1, with the lone loss coming back in October.
The Austin regional also includes Ohio State and Minnesota. The Golden Gophers feature McKenna Wucherer, who starred at Brookfield Central in high school.
Marquette takes on Texas at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8.
Reigning champion Wisconsin hosts a Madison regional and will face Big Ten rival Penn State at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8.
