MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 27-year-old woman died and two other people were hurt in a crash near 35th and Congress early Wednesday, Jan. 1.
According to police, a 44-year-old man was speeding southbound on North 35th Street, and struck another vehicle traveling northbound.
A 27-year-old Manitowoc woman in the vehicle that was hit was pronounced dead at the scene. A second occupant, a 28-year-old Manitowoc man, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The 44-year-old driver of the striking vehicle did not have a valid driver's license. He was arrested and criminal charges will be presented to the District Attorney's office in the coming days.
Police say it is suspected that alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirms it was called to the scene of a crash near 35th and Congress early on New Year's Day.
The crash happened around 3 a.m.
CBS 58 crews on scene saw two cars believed to be involved in the crash.
There's no word on whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
