GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person is dead after an accident in Greenfield.

It happened on Saturday, Sept. 28 near Hwy 100 and Layton Ave.

According to the Greenfield Police Department, they responded to an accident involving a semi-truck and a utility pole. Initial investigation showed the semi-truck struck a disabled passenger car and a utility pole. The lone occupant of the car was pronounced dead.

The semi driver, a 59-year-old from Texas was not injured, according to police. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

People nearby told CBS 58 that the semi clipped the utility pole, and that knocked the electricity out at a nearby Walmart, forcing it to close.

Police say as a result of the crash, the West Layton Avenue detour route for the I-894 eastbound freeway closure has been temporarily changed. Drivers utilizing the local detour route will need to use West Coldspring Road eastbound from South 108th Street and proceed south on South 92nd Street to West Layton Avenue. Police encourage drivers to find alternative routes and use I-41, I-43, and I-94 to get around the closures.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
