MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's already been established that this will be a record year for murders in Milwaukee. Monday, Dec. 21, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner added some disturbing details to the chilling numbers.
In a tweet, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says they've investigated the homicides of 16 school-age children since Sept. 1.
Since September 1, MCMEO has investigated the homicides of 16 school-age children - an increase of over 200 percent from the same time frame in 2019.

"This is a demographic that we typically don't see a lot of cases and so to see this increase, especially during this time of the year, is really something for our office to deal with, it's not typical," said Sara Schreiber, forensic technical director.
This marks an increase in homicides over 200% from the same time frame in 2019, according to the MCMEO.
