MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed a man was found dead inside a burnt car near N. 34th St. and Auer Ave early Monday morning, Aug. 5.
According to Milwaukee police, the man was shot about 30 minutes earlier near N. 84th St. and Carmen, and the suspect then drove the car to 34th St. and Auer and set it on fire.
Neighbors told CBS 58 News on Monday that the fire started around midnight.
"Off my front porch, I felt the heat," explained Jessika, a woman who did not want to show her face on camera. She said she was watching TV when she realized a fire broke out down the block.
"We heard like some crackling sounds, and we came outside," she said. "We seen the flames, and I was like, that's not on our block, there's no way."
Multiple neighbors confirmed the car had been found in an alley near a home located on the corner that had been abandoned for some time. Part of the home also caught fire.
"I'm definitely praying for the families who are affected by such a tragic death," Jessika added.
The victim's name and age are still unknown as of Monday afternoon.
MPD said they are still looking for a suspect.
