MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- Milwaukee County supervisors are working on a plan to honor the life of Sade Robinson.

Robinson is the 19-year-old woman who investigators say was killed following a first date. The proposal is looking at Warnimont Park as the location for the permanent memorial. The park was the first of several locations where Robinson's remains were discovered.

District 12 Supervisor Juan Miguel Martinez authored the resolution for the new memorial. "We wanted to give her family some kind of peace," he said.

Several other county supervisors are also supporting the resolution. Martinez says the parks department and parks foundation plan to work closely with the family to finalize the memorial. "The family wanted something in the way of a tree and a plaque by a park bench. What we want to do is we want to honor whatever it is that the family wants done," said Martinez.

If the proposal is approved, the cost of design and installation is expected to be around $7,000. Martinez hopes the memorial will bring Robinson's mother some peace as she continues to grieve. "She does deserve to have her daughter remembered, especially in a place like Milwaukee that has had many incidences of horrific violence, especially gendered violence towards women of color," he said.

Martinez also mentioned the high-profile Jeffrey Dahmer case, in which some community members expressed concerns in the past about the victims of that crime not being properly honored.

"Something that truly should not have happened, and I think a lot of people remember things like these that happened -- and people deserve peace, and particularly her family." In addition to honoring the family, the memorial also aims to acknowledge the community impact of this horrific crime.

The parks committee will take up the proposal on Jan. 28 before it would go to the full county board for a vote on Feb. 6. If approved, the memorial could be completed as early as this summer.

Maxwell Anderson, the man accused in the crime, is set to stand trial in May.
